Earth Hour is less then a month away!

On Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 8:30 pm, Tigerlily and I are taking part in Earth Hour—a global event in which millions of people will turn out their lights to make a statement of concern about our planet and climate change.

Sponsored by World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour got started just two years ago and is now the largest event of its kind in the world. Last year, more than 50 million participated and the lights went out at the Empire State Building, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and the Coliseum in Rome, just to name a few. Even Google’s homepage went black for the day! In Israel, President Shimon Peres personally turned off lights in Tel Aviv.

But Earth Hour isn’t just for big cities—anyone can participate, including families like ours. Check out this video.

Participating in Earth Hour is easy, fun and free. We hope your family will take part in this amazing event. To sign up, visit www.earthhour.org where you’ll learn more about Earth Hour including creative ideas for things for families to do when the lights go out.

Let’s all turn out and take action on March 28 at 8:30 pm.

Variations on Black...

Black. It goes with everything.

Black is the color of objects that do not emit or reflect light in any part of the visible spectrum; they absorb all such frequencies of light.
Black is the lack of all colors of light, or an exhaustive combination of multiple colors of pigment. I suppose the hoods are the combination of multiple colors of pigment!

Black is a sought after accessory.

Black hoods are a challenge to describe. As you can see I work with many different textures and shades of black.
Furry. Fuzzy. Woolly. Soft. Flexible. Sturdy.

We joined the 350 challenge!

Brighter Planet's 350 Challenge

We are sporting a new badge on the sidebar of this blog. It's part of BrighterPlanet's 350 Challenge!
What is Brighter Planet’s 350 Challenge, exactly?
The 350 Challenge is a small way to show our support to fight climate change. The more bloggers that get this badge, the better. Thousands of readers will know that the climate movement is spreading far beyond the typical “environmental” realm and into the norm.
To join in, get the bage from http://350.brighterplanet.com/, post the badge to your site, let them know, and they will offset 350 pounds of carbon in your name. That's like flicking off 100 lightbulbs for a day. Or going two full weeks without your car!

Why carbon offsets?

Carbon offsets play a crucial role in building a sustainable society. Many renewable energy projects are well suited to produce energy and meet stringent standards, but lack sufficient financing. Carbon offsets fill that void by investing in these projects.

Who is Brighter Planet?

Brighter Planet helps people like me and you measure, reduce and offset their carbon footprints. They are committed to demonstrating that small, day-to-day actions can make a huge difference for the environment.

Ladybug Fairy Hoods are coming soon!

You may be familiar with the Ladybug Fairy hood that I've worn in some of the promotional photos. Well they are coming back to the shop very soon!
There are 4 different new black and red patchy variations;
1. is a thick, dense, wild, Furry, woolly, long hair, heavy weight wool (seen at the top of image 1 to the left)
2. is a dense, thick, short hair, medium-heavy weight wool (seen at the bottom of image 1 to the left)

3. is a lighter furry, long hair, still woolly and warm, will also hold up well over hard wear, wool (seen at the top of image 2 to the left)
4. is a fuzzy, short hair, flexible lighter weight wool (seen at the bottom of image 2).

I'll be trimming these lovely red and black hoods in these blacks. The top one is a furry, wild, Long hair wool. The bottom one is a shorter hair, fuzzy wool.

This color combo is near and dear to my heart and I'm very glad to be working with it again! My hope is that it will find happy heads to turn into Ladybug Fairies!
